Overcome Stress and Boredom

Have you ever been having a bad time and wished that you could make time go faster? Here are some things you can try to make such periods less painful.
Have you ever been having a bad time and wished that you could make time go faster? Here are some things you can try to make such periods less painful.

1. Accept the inevitable

Life throws us many surprises. This can make it exciting! Accepting that the unexpected could happen can help you adapt when it does. Stay calm and positive. This will help you approach the problem rationally.

2. Seek opportunities, not problems

Whatever occurs in your life, you can determine how you react to it. Take control of everything that you can control, and make those moments as productive and enjoyable as possible.

You may not be able to speed up the end of a pandemic, but you can make choices and take control where you can. For example: maybe you want to spend your evening reading an exciting book, tighten up your Spanish, or mindlessly flip through social media in the hope that this boring time will pass faster. The choice is yours.

3. Have a backup plan

Having a backup plan is essential for public speaking, for instance. Things rarely go exactly as you intend, and it can be stressful if you worry about the unknown. Make a backup plan and be ready to switch to it if things do go wrong.

For example, print the most important visual elements of your presentation in case of technical problems with a computer or internet connection. Write down a couple of relevant stories or jokes in your notebook just in case you forget what to say. If you are well prepared, you can avoid or navigate through those awkward moments.
Take responsibility for your life by looking for opportunities and positive moments. A little planning can help "bad times" happen more rarely.
